Gotland sheepskins with their silky soft curly fleece are a rare find. Colors range from silver-gray to deep charcoal. The texture of fine fibers curling together is visually striking, and also exceptionally soft to the touch.
Named after the island of Gotland in Sweden, these sheepskins are part of the cultural heritage of the specific region. Our sheepskins are the original stock. The valuable hides are tanned without chemicals, chrome, or excessive processing.

A thousand years of selective softness.
These sheep are one of Sweden’s most prized breeds. Their soft, silky wool is a result of centuries of careful, selective breeding on the island of Gotland.
The Vikings brought Karakul and Romanov sheep for crossbreeding with native stock. This created a resilient, multi-purpose sheep with soft, curly, fine wool. Modern Gotland sheep promote finer, smoother wool with a low micron count, similar to what you’d find in luxury textiles.
The sheepskins we offer come from this original Gotland breeding stock, raised in sustainable European farming systems. Their fleece retains the silky softness, loose curls, and gray palette that you expect from the tradition of Gotland sheepskins.
